Every year around July 4th, I face an internal crisis that has nothing to do with patriotism. Rather, it concerns my personal beliefs. You see, I strongly believe that costumes and flair make everything more fun, yet I believe just as strongly in the 3 Commandments of Mamma Nature: reduce, reuse, and recycle. And I'm also very cheap.
As the name implies, we only allot one day to celebrate the 4th of July. So how do I balance my desire to decorate with my responsibilities to reuse and to reduce (the amount of money I spend) on this one day holiday? Nature vs. nurture has nothing on this debate, I used to think, for this debate is much more profound and unsolvable.
Whenever I'm facing a challenge, I meditate, journal, and use puppets to express my feelings, but I had yet to solve this Rubix's Cube-- until now.
Celebrate 4th of July in style by rocking vintage red, white, and blue clothes that you'd wear even on July 5th. You're never going to wear that glittery 'Merica tank top again, but you'll wear these vintage jean shorts from BaileyRayDenim and this red, white, and blue dress from SemiPreciousGarnetts over and over.
Or sport some red, white, and blue accessories that you can re-style throughout the season, like these epic vintage sunglasses from BurgerAndFriends, this vintage straw hat from GreenCanyonTradingCo, or these guitar string bangle bracelets by DesignSea. Now that the clothing crisis has been averted, stay tuned for our next blog where we'll tackle 4th of July party decorations and games!
